Spanish
At Castle View, we want our children to love Spanish. We want to create an environment where children feel comfortable and excited to try and learn and speak in a new language. We want our children to embrace everything with the language, learning how to respect cultures and providing inspiration towards travel.
It is our core aim that children experience engaging, interactive and memorable lessons. Our hope is that when children leave Castle View, they take everything they have learnt about languages with them and are open to further opportunties with language learning.
Language learning at Castle View follows the 2014 National Curriculum and focuses on:
- Reading and understanding the language;
- Writing at varying length, including some grammatical features;
- Listening and improving accuracy with pronounciation;
- Speaking with increasing confidence, fluency and spontaneity;
- Developing an appreciation of the language studied.
We have implemented the scheme - Language Angels - to support our delivery across the school. Although not statutory in Key Stage 1, we do begin some language learning at this stage to provide a foundation for the breadth of learning in Key Stage 2.
